This has been annoying.
You Can Go With This, Or You Can Go With That
Ever since I read the prompt for today’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday yesterday (“this or that”), I’ve had “You can go with this, or you can go with that,” sometimes accompanied by dance scenes, as an earworm.
It’s a lyric from Fatboy Slim’s Weapon of Choice, which I hadn’t thought of for a good 5 years before I saw that prompt. Why these things associate in my head, I have no idea.
Regardless, watch the video below so I can pass the earworm along.
I remember the first time I saw this and think how fucking cool is that. Christopher Walken, bored, suddenly busting into some slick dance moves. And he was good too.
Loved it. Still love it.
I had had no idea that he had a background in dance. My most recent Christopher Walken experience in 1996 was of him having hid an “uncomfortable hunk of metal” in his ass so he could give it to Butch (that’d be a Pulp Fiction reference for you non-Tarantino fans out there) and that he was generally the psycho nutjob in movies he was in.
Kinda makes me think about all of the talents those around us have that we don’t see or know about. Sadly, I pretty much have no hidden talents. I can write alright and cook pretty good; and I surf a mean couch when I’m watching TV.
Hmmmm, might need to “up my game” as the wife says.
Anyway, it really is amazing the pockets of ability and experiences you find in people.
Mixing Up the Sausages With This and That
The other song that came to mind while typing the above is “Master of the House,” the MUCH-needed bit of comic relief after Fantine’s death and Valjean’s flight from Javert in Les Miserables.
The below is from the 10th anniversary concert for Les Mis. I’m pretty sure that these are the two actors I saw in London’s West End when I saw the show there in the summer of ’90. I generally prefer the 25th anniversary concert – I like Eponine better (I think my favorite Les Mis number is a toss up between On My Own and A Little Fall of Rain. I mean, my 19 year old self almost cried at A Little Fall of Rain way back when) and I love Thenardier in the 25th Anniversary (one of the guys from Little Britain, can’t remember his name. Also, Little Britain – effing hilarious, “Computer says no.” Giggle.).
And that’s it for a musical Stream of Consciousness Saturday. I’ve got a bit of work blog writing to do now.
Image from the Spongebob Wikia. Unrelated to anything, once you give in to Spongebob, his is a warm and comfortable world. I resisted the charms of Spongebob for months when Lauren was 2 or 3 and it first came on. He wore me down. To the point that I suggested taking the girls to the movie before they could even do it — and Hasslehoff in his Bay Watch garb, sheer movie awesome.
Work blogs are never as much fun as SoCS Bryant – good job! By the way, the earworm is still yours.
It did get me through about 10 minutes of my run yesterday, so worked out in the end 🙂
