In Other Words . . . I Might Be an Idiot #SoCS

socs-badge-2017-18-e1503097084778“In other words” is a phrase that, now that I think about it, drives me semi-nutty.

Because, “in other words” you couldn’t figure out how to say what the hell it was you wanted to say the first time.

If you do that, just say “let me put it another way.”

Oh. Crap.

I just realized that sounds pretty douchy too.

It’s hard to say what you want to say sometimes. Continue reading In Other Words . . . I Might Be an Idiot #SoCS

Gimme Gimme Gimme – #SoCS

socsbadge2016-17FYI, this post is only tangentially about Knox (that’s the puppy sitting on top of Oscar).

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “give/given/giving.” Begin your post with one of those words. Bonus points if you end your post with one as well. Enjoy!

Give me, give me, gimmegimmegimme, was the first thing that popped into my head. Quickly followed by the song, Gimme Some Lovin’ from G. Love and then immediately followed by a band I was made aware of by Chris Walker years ago, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. They’re a punk/cover band and they cover A LOT of songs, some of them are pretty damn good versions.

Like this cover of Sweet Caroline. Continue reading Gimme Gimme Gimme – #SoCS

Ham, Green Eggs, and Stream of Consciousness Saturday

green-eggs-and-ham-coverI do not like Green Eggs and Ham
I do not like them Sam I am.

Those lines from Dr. Seuss were the first things I thought of when I saw the prompt for today’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday post from Linda Hill:

Ham.

I also started humming, “ham, wonderful ham ham ham ham.” As you Monty Python fans know, that’s actually the spam song, but, hey, whatever. I think I’ve tasted Spam once. I know that my Pawpan hated Spam. Continue reading Ham, Green Eggs, and Stream of Consciousness Saturday

Ha: Stream of Consciousness Saturday

ha ha Nelson from Simpsons

Ha.

That’s the prompt for this week’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday from Linda G. Hill. At first, I sat here with my consciousness decidedly not streaming. Possibly that’s because I switched over from doing some work in an attempt to begin to catch up after being sick for the better part of 7 days. The very opposite of “ha” as in “happiness.” Continue reading Ha: Stream of Consciousness Saturday

This or That: Your Weapon of Choice #SoCS

Earworm_character.Spongebob
As with many things Spongebob, oddly appropriate.

This has been annoying.

You Can Go With This, Or You Can Go With That

Ever since I read the prompt for today’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday yesterday (“this or that”), I’ve had “You can go with this, or you can go with that,” sometimes accompanied by dance scenes, as an earworm.

It’s a lyric from Fatboy Slim’s Weapon of Choice, Continue reading This or That: Your Weapon of Choice #SoCS

Routes, Roots, and Stream of Consciousness Saturday #socs

Train tracks always make me think of routes and journeys (and country music, but that's a different blog post).
Train tracks always make me think of routes and journeys (and country music, but that’s a different blog post).

What route are you taking to get to the root of the problem?

Taking a hand (fingers?) at this week’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt from Linda Hill, which is: Route/Root, use either/both however the hell you want.

Route is one of those funny words that I will sometimes pronounce “rowt” and sometimes as “root.” I think it can go either way, pronunciation-wise (hmmm, should we call these bisexual words? Anyway.) Continue reading Routes, Roots, and Stream of Consciousness Saturday #socs

Ring A Ding Ding – SoCS

Rings and Stream of Consciousness SaturdayToday’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday word is: Ring. As always, kudos to Linda Hill for the prompt.

My first two thoughts on this were obvious ones – marriage and phone calls (in the future, will actual phone conversations between two people lead to marriage or will it all be texting, Facebook likes, and the occasional date?).

But ring is one of those words that you use more often than you think.

Of course, there’s the ring as symbol of love – the never-ending circle of bliss put upon your finger by one’s beloved. Coincidentally, one of the heaviest ounces or so of weight on the planet. Continue reading Ring A Ding Ding – SoCS
